Misnomers...Yikes!

* Apologies for the inherent S-expletive above *

Woe, for the lack of sleep and taxing hours took a toll on my brain (or what's left of it) today.

Here's when a memory lapse is mildly amusing :
The philanderer had a harlem (sic) of women.
Incorrect : Harlem - The crucible of black America.
What it should have been : Harem - a group of female partners for one man, er...for fornication purposes.

Here's when a parapraxis would incur the wrath of the recepient :
(Thankfully, I did a double take and did not send out the offensive message. Phew! ) Condolences (sic), Mr A! =)
Incorrect : Condolences
What it should have been : Congratulations

What a smirch that would have been!

Yes, Mich.

It's time to start turning in early.

Do You Like Haikus?

Sometimes, a little silliness just makes you smile. =)

Typically, an English haiku combines form, content, and language succinctly by adopting a 5-7-5 form.

It consists of 3 lines and a total of 17 syllables :
The first line is made up of 5 syllables,
The second line has 7,
And the final line has 5 syllables.

A constant fave haiku poet of mine is Ryusui.

  1. In all this still cool
    is the moon also sleeping?
    There too, in the pool?

  2. A lost child crying
    Stumbling over the dark fields.
    Catching fireflies.
Do You like haikus too?

NDP 2009

It was a public holiday.

Unfortunately, B was on assignment as a photojournalist.

Here's one of his photos at the parade.

Bon Voyage, Mr D!

Mr Daniel is embarking on a 7-week trip.

Here's a quick shoutout to him :
Enjoy the cotton candy and the tumble of rainbows.
Watch bursts of sunshine daily as you skim across the waters.
Find joy at the sight of gleaming sparks
Of trawlers, liners and dotted rafters.
I'll shout out to you in Faraway Land, if I get There.
If not, well, you'll just have to get back Here to Local Soil.

Bon Voyage! *hugs* =)

Insipid Lulls.

As your pupils dilate,

eyelids fold

and eyeballs roll,

pray,

why are you online?

(where 'you' is nobody in particular, really.)

It's something I ask myself

each time I snuggle into my seat of blue.

Cotton Candy And A Tumble Of Rainbows. =)

Sometimes, life throws you incredulous yarns and unravels strange surprises.

Cotton candy and a tumble of rainbows came by today.

Pattered across :
  • Orchard Parksuites with The Man.
  • Ion for Lunch with The Man.
  • Illuma for Gelato with The Man.
  • Siglap for Supper with Mr R.
And Mich was all smiles. =)

The Man

Mich

Mich was out with The Man.
For a good whole 10 hours. =)

Mr R & Mich

Goodbye, Mr R!
Thanks for the ride home!

August Blooms.

My unwavering resolution is to stop shopping in the month of August.

Do I really need that many dresses / tops / jeans?

Is that 4th pair of white Esprit shorts really necessary?

Something jolted within today.

I've never been materialistic.

Neither have I demanded that men (nor The Man) should shower me with expensive items of fancy labels.

Mich is also an advocate of financial independence (ie. Females should be capable of earning their own income.) and her purchases are largely paid for with dough raked from her sheer hard work.

At the end of the day, these are tangible but inanimate objects.

And so, the Artist shall dab her brush and stroke hues of abstract Happiness.

Movits - Fel Del Av Gården

Virtual unknowns till an appearance on The Colbert Report propelled them to instant stardom, Movits leapfrogged 90 000+ positions to be 75th on Amazon overnight (yes, literally). Such is the influence of Stephen Colbert.

With fusion swing, jazz and hip-hop, these Swedes have concocted infectious beats!

Give it a go! =)

Why Do We Cry?

To denote misery?

If so, I'm Sad.

I really am.

Yet, I keep it all within me.

Afraid to share because I do not wish to be thought of as weak.

Paranoid of being judged and being referred to as "The One Who ________"

Thus, I confine myself to the parameters of this vast space.

Whatever that grieves has had its voice quelled by me.

And the only clue to what is wrong,

Are these unbroken trickles.

Shards.

There are things that I cannot say.

And I know that given my usual cheery / sarcastic disposition, it's easy to think that whatever it is, it is not that big a deal and that I'm sensationalizing things.

But, I'm not.

I don't aim to be Happy.

I just aim not to be Sad.

And I wonder just how long I can keep up this seemingly Happy facade

Till the day I crack and shatter into a million pieces.

Resolution : To Reduce Expenditure On Shopping.

Bursting wardrobes and squashed hangers are blatant signals that I should stop shopping for a while. With new clothes aplenty, I've hardly any reason to chalk up more purchases after this.

Meanwhile, here's what I've amassed today:

  • Christian Dior Lipgloss in Lilac
  • Christian Dior Lip Treatment
  • Forever 21 Dress (Favourite Purchase of the Day)
  • Forever 21 Culottes
  • Zara Pants for Sleepwear
  • Esprit Shorts ( with VIP Card discount )

$270 spent in all.

Yes, I know. I know.

New Mantra : Stop Spending! =)

Christian Dior Limited Edition Lipgloss (Lilac)
and Lip Maximizer
(Quite a misnomer as it's actually a lip treatment for dry lips)

Signature Christian Dior acronyms.

Forever 21 Dress : Bright hues for those happy days.

Mich has a weakness for such necklines.

Forever 21 Culottes in Black. An 80s look.

Extras like double belts bowl Mich over.

Zara pants for sleepwear. Note the details.

Zara used to be made in Spain.
Guess manufacturing in Portugal's cheaper now.

Esprit Grey Shorts

Hey presto, it doubles up as a pair of berms!
[ This was discovered only when I was taking these photos. ] =)

Details that Mich likes : Engraved Button

Signature EDC Red Tag.

Twine that doubles up as a belt.
