Indeed.

Now, You don't. This I know.

What about Then?

Did You?

Didn't You?

You did, didn't you?

I think You did.

I know You did.

They said You did.

I did.

Did You?

To know the past.
To face the present.
To carve a new future.

Of my own. Without You.

I wish You'd tell me.
But I guess You won't.

Wish You Were Here.

If You love guitar riffs like Mich, you'll love this!
The intro may be a tad too long for some to stomach, but it pays to be patient!
Listen & enjoy! =)

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.

Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Wish You Were Here
- Pink Floyd

Bye Bye, Moon!

What a pretty pic of the Moon!
From the National Optical Astronomy Observatory

As you read this, the Moon is moving away from us. Each year, the Moon steals some of Earth's rotational energy, and uses it to propel itself about 3.8 centimeters higher in its orbit. Researchers say that when it formed, the Moon was about 14,000 miles (22,530 kilometers) from Earth. It's now more than 280,000 miles, or 450,000 kilometers away.

No, I did not make that up.

Read this article from Space.com for more cool facts about the Moon.

(*Yes, Mich digs astronomy too. =p )

Let's See...

Courage or sheer Stupidity?
You decide.

Yellowed.

Supposed to be -
So the Story goes.

Supposed to.
But never did.

And never will.

Time, Scarcely.

Scarcely has this week passed and I've received the following :
  • Jack : Hey, Mei! When are we ever going to meet up?! (*mei = younger sis)
  • Del : Hey Mich, doing anything? Busy as usual?
  • Bryan : You're never free to meet up!
  • Diana : When on earth will you be free?!
  • Kris : I called you a zillion times from Melbourne, but you didn't pick up the phone!
  • Tricia : Lady, you're so busy! Never free for breakfast, lunch nor dinner! I haven't seen you since my return from Indonesia!
  • Sandra : Yo sista, postpone again? :-(
Apologies to the abovementioned people. Bogged with work. Sinking in quicksand. Would love to meet up with anyone / everyone. All I need is Time! (Note: Mich only has time when sleeping hours kick in on most days.)

Would someone kindly hand a few sunshine hours to Mich? =(

The Art of Being.

Be that self which one truly is.”

Soren Kierkegaard
1813 - 1855
Existentialist Philosopher pioneer

Are You?

Do I know You?
Are You who You are?
Are You who I think You are?
Have I chosen to think You are what I think You are?

Are You, well, You?

Mich would like all to note that this is addressed to nobody in particular. Mich has the knack of giving others the benefit of the doubt, which often clouds her judgment when it matters. Perhaps is a familiar suffix. Mich chooses to see the speck of good whenever she can.

Is this Mich's strength or weakness?

Distance.

It helps to Know.
Then.
From the Spell to wake.

And some.

I have an angel.
His world revolves around mine.
He is always there for me.
He's intelligent, having majored in Financial Analysis, the cream of the crop in Business School, with a 2nd Class Hons (Upper) to boot.
My name is stored in his phone as "Precious Princess".
I'm very much loved.

What more can a girl ask for?

And some.

"Forgive me."

"Forgive..me.."

With frail hands clasping around Mummy's, Auntie Patsy breathed her last.

Goodbye, Auntie Patsy.

You've been the familiar figure popping by with nonya kuehs and Peranakan goodies to boot. You watched me grow as your mien embedded traces of lines.

Sleep well, Auntie Patsy.

We'll meet at the end of the rainbow.
Someday.

Dwelling.

Blanket of fog, shroud to be.
Veil the fracas none shall see.
Nestle within my bridled haven
Lay the crinkles Time has chastened.

Cradle the chip upon my shoulder
Of that to which has gone asunder.
Whirling shades exit the tent,
A path diffused with steps intent.

Notions grate and bring to mind,
Of this and that and those in kind.
To whom and where and which to bind,
Precipitates a ceaseless grind.

Entangled runs the wind in strands,
Through sketches of the shifting sands.
Fractal shreds from breaks and bends
Wheedle noughts to make amends.

A treasure chest of emotions bare,
A tad too late from said shadowed lair.
Dainty eyelashes of each to preen
Reflecting that which could have been.

It's Time.

I'm often told that I'm intelligent, opinionated and a deep thinker.

For all the intelligence I'm supposed to possess, hankering after a foolish lifetime fantasy is was an awkward peg against my moniker.

The bubble, on its precarious canker, burst inevitably.

It's time.

Jumping on the Facebook wagon.

Ok, so I've succumbed to the fad in the name of Facebook, adding to the extensive list of sites to log in / view on a daily basis :
  • Facebook
  • Friendster
  • Flickr - I've just renewed my paid account! =)
  • Multiply - a relatively obscure site which I've been using to store my songs for the last couple of years! Thanks to Del for sharing this secret!
  • MySpace - I've forgotten the password to the recent account created to replace the previous account of which the password had slipped my mind. Hmmm.....
  • eSnips - an alternative site to imeem for streaming and listening to songs.
  • Tagged - dragged in by my secondary school pal, Tally. Tagged has an avalanche of people waiting to pander to your ego. A strange phenomenon.
  • Hotmail & Gmail - self-explanatory
  • MSN Messenger - daily lifeline. Heh.
  • Yahoo Geocities - storage of compressed songs.
  • YouTube - for mindless entertainment
  • Google Video - for full-length videos of American politics and global issues.
  • eBay & Yahoo Auctions - where I rid of unwanted stuff.
  • Digg / del.icio.us. / Technorati / ZDNet / Download.com - self-explanatory to seasoned bloggers
  • DeviantArt - an addicitive site for artworks of different genres.
  • International Herald Tribune - for politically objective news ( read: articles you won't be getting in the Straits Times on local and global issues. )
  • Google News / BBC / CNN - news for the masses.
  • PoemHunter & Literature.org - where strings of words romance me. =)
  • NationalGeographic / Discovery / History.com - my daily fixation on cable television & the web.
  • HistoryNet - History magazine. Yes, I am a history geek.
  • Blogger - Erm, duh?
Should it pose any surprise that I spend a fraction of my time online? -.-

Colour Fool.

Salvador Dali, 1956

Dab your brush and choose a hue.
Streak across the space anew.
Deft strokes carve the mind's review.
Registries of time scrape each sinew.

The artist paints without a clue.
Acrid shades are but a few.
Reels in motion, each in queue.
A trickle unbroken then - who knew?

Aplomb in silent seams to sew,
inflicting pricks as thoughts eschew.
Points in space once shaped by two -
The forgotten craft of me and You.

Happy Birthday, Mummy!

14 Sep 2007 (Friday)
Mummy's Birthday
Swissotel
14 September must be a fruitful date, so to speak. Mummy's birthday falls on 14 September and so does Ee's (Mum's elder sister). Compounding this streak of coincidence is Koo's (Mum's elder brother) birthday on 15 September!

As usual, Mummy was treated to a sumptuous meal and a fat red packet. =)

Mummy & Me

Mummy loved the food. :D

I'll Wake From The Spell.

Anyone who's seen us
Knows what's going on between us
It doesn't take a genius
To read between the lines

And what about the laughter
The happy ever after?

We Could Be In Love - Lea Salonga & Brad Kane

-------------------------------------

That was then.

Would it be easier if skeletons were unleashed from their closet?
Would it drum less incessantly if nobody(-ies, if the suffix were possible) had mentioned that Your gestures and overtures were blatant?
Would it be easier to walk away had I not been strung with strains of nought?

It's no use crying over spilt milk.
And so, I shan't.

I'm blessed because He loves me.
But I wish You had told the Truth.

And It's Over -

My hols, that is. What were you thinking?

The paltry week-long break has done me good. Humanization was possible due to Friend R, P6 friends, Vern, Ting, ex-colleagues and Taipei friends.

Now, it's back to Hotel No Life.

Whee!

Oh, be a darling and shut the brolly on your way out, will you?
It's dripping with sarcasm.

Let's Just Stop And Talk Awhile - Lea Salonga

Magic.
Of skeletons to be tucked away.
Of the first times.
Of _________.

Close your eyes and let Lea Salonga captivate you for the next few minutes.

*For the uninitiated, Lea Salonga is the voice behind the strains of Mulan, Aladdin ( A Whole New World), Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, etc.

Let's Just Stop And Talk Awhile - Lea Salonga

Fancy meeting you alone in the crowd.
Couldn't help but notice your smile.

While everybody else around us is going about,
Can we just stop and talk awhile?

I've been often told our world's growing old
And that friends are harder to find.
Do tell me more about yourself.
We could share a thought or two.
Now, who would mind?

Maybe then we could go for a ride,
Drive down to the countryside.
Get away from the gray
And frenzied hurly-burly of the city life.

Early yet to say what lies ahead.
It's the first day of the rest of our lives.
Can we just stop and talk awhile?
Get to know each other,
Who are we to know?
Love could be waiting at the end
Around that bend and so,
Let's stop and talk awhile.

Maybe then we could go for a ride
Drive down to the countryside.
Get away from the gray
And frenzied hurly-burly of the city life.

Early yet to say what lies ahead.
It's the first day of the rest of our lives.
Can we just stop and talk awhile?
Get to know each other,
Who are we to know?
Love could be waiting at the end
Around that bend and so,
Let's stop and talk awhile.

Let's stop and talk awhile.

How Sweet.

"Baby, do you want dessert?"

Baby nods.

The One disappears behind closed doors and emerges half an hour later with her favourite food and dessert.

Baby should be so lucky. She doesn't deserve such goodness. Not with what's going on in her raging head.

The Forgotten Race.

by Imran on DeviantArt

You've trained for the race of your life. It has taken you a decade to get to where you are. Confidence abound, you participate with the anticipation of winning, no less. The finishing line appears within sight and you glance over your shoulders, smirking at the rest who trail behind.

Just then, you trip and the race is over in a flash.

You pick yourself up.

An imminent void descends. You don't know what to do with your life anymore as that was the only race to be held within your lifetime.

And as if to mock you, ominous clouds loom above, draped in enigmatic fallacy.

That's how I feel.
Not about work.
Not about finances.
Not about family.
Not about friends.
Not about The One.

Nought to show for races ran.

Excuse me while I purge my thoughts.

My Childhood.

The child wondered how It would be.
Steps of two weaved a sole requiem.
Childhood and its mien scarcely show.
Rain - it will make the flowers grow.

[ Mich ]

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

A Gift To Myself - 7 Hours

Rebonding At Kimage
  • Hair is first snipped into shape.
  • Hair is shampooed, conditioned and rinsed.
  • Base cream is applied from the roots to the ends and left to be absorbed.

= A very unglam moment =

  • Rebonding lotion is combed through.
  • To increase the rate of structural breakdown, 20-30 minutes are spent under hot steam.
  • Hair is rinsed. (Again!)

= Taking a toilet break =

  • Hair is blown dry before a flat iron is used. This takes approximately an hour to complete.
  • Neutralizer is applied generously.
  • Hair is rinsed (Yet again!)
  • Hair treatment is applied and left to stand for 15 minutes.
  • Hair is rinsed (Rinse #4!)
  • Lastly, hair is blown dry!

    • = Finally! After 7 hours! =

    • Next, proceed to fill tummy with Thai food!

    = Happy Mich =

    • Burp to your heart's content! =)
